Will your iPhone alarm go off in Silent mode?
Yes. Apple says iPhone Clock alarms still sound in Silent mode and Do Not Disturb. An alarm going off on a silent iPhone is usually expected behavior: Silent mode is not an off switch for your scheduled alarms.

Why your alarm rings while your iPhone is silent
Silent mode is intended to silence ordinary ringing and alerts. Apple explicitly includes Clock alarms among the sounds that can still play through the built-in speaker. Do Not Disturb also leaves Clock alarms able to sound.
If you are trying to avoid an alarm during a meeting or a day off, changing Silent mode is the wrong control. Review the scheduled alarm itself.
How to stop an unwanted scheduled alarm
Open Clock, find the alarm, and turn it off or remove it if you no longer need it. For a Sleep/Wake Up alarm, review the next-alarm options or edit the schedule in Health. Check the repeat days so the same surprise does not recur.
Make deliberate changes to the next occurrence or the full schedule. Turning off tomorrow’s wake-up alarm and removing a weekday schedule have different consequences.
What if the alarm is silent or too quiet?
First inspect the selected sound and alarm volume. A muted ringtone does not tell you how loud the alarm will be. Sleep/Wake Up alarms have their own controls, and available system volume controls can differ by iOS version.
Run a short test after changing settings. If your alarm still fails, use our iPhone alarm troubleshooting guide and Apple’s support instructions before relying on it for an important morning.
Do all third-party alarm apps behave the same way?
Do not assume the Apple Clock rule applies identically to every app and version. A third-party alarm’s behavior depends on its implementation, permissions and device settings. Test the actual app on your own phone with Silent mode and Focus enabled.
Check the app’s instructions and current iOS requirements. An ordinary notification and a scheduled system alarm are different experiences, even if both remind you about a time.
Make the alarm worth hearing with Timey
Timey pairs loud custom sounds with backgrounds, photos and invitations. Use it when you want an alarm that belongs to a workout, trip or shared plan, rather than another nameless beep.
Set up a small test first, including your usual Silent mode or Focus setup. Once it works as intended, invite a friend and see the member confirmations that make Timey useful for plans together.
